Outside, it was the kind of Sunday that makes you question if Florida is actually the Sunshine State—thunderstorms rolling through Tampa like they paid for a weekend pass.

Inside, it was a marathon of couch athletics—remote in hand, snacks at the ready.

  • A bunch of guys from Argentina and Spain kicked a fancy ball around in New Jersey for the amusement of a few close friends (just 81,118 in the stadium, plus a casual billion or so tuning in on screens).
  • Later, a slightly less massive (but still sold-out) crowd in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina watched 37 drivers repeatedly turn left for .625 miles, 450 times—the first officially sanctioned event there since 1996.
Fun fact: a guy from Auckland, New Zealand led a bunch of laps and finished fifth—because nothing says “Southern Sport” like a Kiwi at the front of the pack.

And as if on cue, Mother Nature threw in her own halftime show with some sky-high theatrics.

A dramatic sky filled with colorful clouds at sunset, with silhouettes of trees and houses at the bottom.
Tall pine trees silhouetted against a colorful sky with clouds and surrounding greenery.

All in all, not a bad day at all!
