As some of you know, this website and its sister site, ImagesByBill.us, have been around for quite some time—since 2008, to be exact.
The story
(Too much blah-blah-blah? Click/ tap here to skip to The Conclusions)

The site began as a platform to share my photography, but it quickly evolved into a chronicle of my experiences—Bill’s Journey.
Much has changed since that November day in 2008 when I first ventured into cyberspace. The technology and hosting platforms behind the website have evolved. Personally, my life has transformed as well—career shifts from Operations to Information Technology and back to a hybrid of both, moving from nationwide travel to just in Florida, and relocating from Arizona to Florida. In 2024, the biggest change yet: entering retirement, which began with a six-month, around-the-world cruise.
Through it all, BillTerry1.com has remained a constant—a place to revisit experiences and destinations, occasionally vent, share personal perspectives, and document/ share where the journey has taken us.
The website began as a way to connect my work experiences with my personal life, transforming the technology I immersed myself in at work into something more meaningful. Although I dislike the term, it has been a “hobby.” Like most hobbies, I’ve covered all the expenses myself, justifying it as a personal endeavor—untainted by commercial interests or profit.

Life is getting more expensive, with no sign of slowing down. Regardless of political views (of which I have many), the world is simply becoming pricier. This “hobby” is becoming more costly, just like everything else.

So, what to do? The answer: I’m giving in—at least a little—to the Almighty Internet Economic Gods.
I’m experimenting with a couple of different ad placement partners to find what aligns with my vision. My goal is to present ads in a way that doesn’t intrude on the site’s essence or enjoyment.
Over the next month or so, you’ll notice various ad placement experiments as I determine what works best. There are plenty of challenges—from device differences (phone, computer, tablet) to the quirks of different browsers and operating systems. It’s complex and sometimes confusing. I’m leaning toward non-embedded ads that you can easily dismiss with a click
(You may see ads at the bottom of posts; click/ tap the down symbol twice to make them go away.)

- Thank you for your patience as I navigate these changes.
- Have a comment—good, bad, or indifferent? Click Contact Me! at the top or bottom of any post to share your thoughts. Your input is invaluable as I shape the future of this site.
- And a small request: if you see an ad that interests you, give it a click—even if you don’t go any further. It helps me understand what’s working and supports the project’s goals.
Thanks for visiting—and for being part of the journey.
