Cedar Key’s Scenic Boardwalk

May 14: a bright sunny day in Cedar Key, FL. Perfect for a stroll on the boardwalk in the Cemetery Point Park and a walk back. The Park is located on the eastern point of land connected to the Cedar Key Cemetery

The park belongs to the City of Cedar Key and is now being developed with a recreation grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.  The development includes boardwalk access, a restroom, an exercise trail, a picnic pavilion, a playground for children and an overlook.

The Boardwalk revealed the final resting place for a few things, outside the cemetery.

Leaving the Boardwalk…

“Living on the edge”

Muir’s Rest: A “thousand mile walk to the Gulf of Mexico here in Cedar Key” with “a tin cup, bread, a journal, and his walking stick.”

A quick walk through a quiet cemetery.

Mom Linda Marie and Dad Johnnie were married in 1972, and Little Johnnie was born in 1973.
Sadly, only Little Johnnie is here, the other two gravestones have no final dates. Little Johnnie was only 32.

Some areas are not as well tended as others.
